“A Film About Coffee” Premieres

Posted on February 28, 2015 to News, Photos

How does the coffee in your morning joe get there?  That is the premise behind the award-winning documentary A Film About Coffee that had its Long Island premiere at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center recently.  More than one hundred coffee curious East End residents turned-out on one of the coldest nights of the year for the one-of-a-kind event which was sponsored by us at Hampton Coffee Company.

Through beautiful video photography and narrated by a host of coffee industry people from around the world, A Film About Coffee artfully takes the viewer back-and-forth from coffee bean producing countries like Honduras and Rwanda to coffee consuming cities including New York, Japan, and Seattle.  For many, the film was an eye-opening experience as to how important coffee is to so many people around the world.  In fact, coffee is second only to oil as the most traded commodity.

For those who arrived early, Hampton Coffee Company’s Baristas delighted guests with a complimentary Pour Over Coffee Bar in the theatre’s lounge and brewed samples of our Roaster’s Choice Rwanda AA coffee (available here) in honor of this coffee producing country which was highlighted in the film.  Afterwards, many in the audience stayed-on and participated in a Coffee Roundtable Q&A Session moderated by Hampton Coffee Company co-owner Jason Belkin.  The panel consisted of the area’s most influential coffee Roastmasters: Dwight Amada from Hampton Coffee Company, Andrew Bedini from Java Nation in Bridgehampton, and Evan Closson from Patchogue’s Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Company.

For those who missed the premiere, Hampton Coffee Company will be presenting A Film About Coffee on a smaller screen as the selection of one of our upcoming Documentary Movie Nights.  The Documentary Movie Nights are free and held every Wednesday at 6pm at our Coffee Experience Store on the Highway in Southampton, next to BMW.  The exact date of the showing of A Film About Coffee will be announced through our social media channels and on the Movie Night Board inside the Southampton store in a few weeks.
