Hampton Coffee Team Member Raising Money For Jamaica Hometown

Long-time Hampton Coffee Company Team Member Orvil Atkinson is raising money to help his hometown in Jamaica that was devastated by Hurricane Melissa.  The Hampton Bays resident has started a GoFundMe with a goal of $5000.  The proceeds will be used to buy a variety of construction and food supplies needed for his community of Balaclava, St. Elizabeth, which was at the center of the Category 5 Hurricane’s landfall.  Particularly in need are roofing materials and plywood as well as transportation for delivering aid to rural areas.

“I grew up in this community and still have family, friends, and neighbors living here.  We’ve all seen the damage and know of the urgent needs of people who haven’t yet received help,” said Orvil.  “I hope we can all come together to help Balaclava and nearby communities recover and restore their lives after Hurricane Melissa.”  Orvil says priority will be given to elderly residents and single parents most affected by the storm.

Anyone who can support Orvil’s fundraiser to rebuild Balaclava can donate at https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-balaclava-and-recover-from-hurricane-melissa.  Orvil will be posting photos, videos, and updates throughout the process to keep donors informed about how each dollar is spent.
