Hampton Coffee Turns 25!

Hampton Coffee Company turns 25 this year!  Our local family-owned coffee company became one of the first Third Wave coffee roasteries on the East Coast when we opened our first espresso bar & café and roastery in an abandoned service station on the side of Montauk Highway in Water Mill back in 1994 -more than a quarter century ago.  Over those next 25 years, Hampton Coffee Company beat the odds to become an iconic part of The Hamptons landscape with 4 cafes throughout the East End, a new larger roastery, and Mobile Espresso Unit van.

True to our founding as a single local café, Hampton Coffee Company continues to be an integral part of our community, being a part of more than 100 different events and organizations every year.  “When we first started, I remember having to explain to customers what a latte was,” said Jason Belkin, who has co-owned Hampton Coffee Company with his wife Theresa for the past 20 years.  “Theresa and I are so proud to be part of a company that means so much to so many people for so long.  We make local coffee for local people year round; we’re honored that our customers support us so much.”

Jason worked for the original owner as a Barista when he was in college and had the opportunity to buy the business years later when it was still the single original location which is now their Water Mill flagship.  While many of the artisan coffee roasters that started around the same time (and later) as Hampton Coffee have since closed or been sold to multinational investors, Hampton Coffee Company is still 100% locally-owned and operated.  “We are truly one of the few old-fashioned local businesses left around here,” said Theresa.  “We live here and all our staff are your neighbors, the kids from the local high school, and your friends.  Our customers who come into our cafes are treated like friends and family.”

To mark our 25th Anniversary,  we are offering a limited edition Anniversary Blend coffee Boxed Set that includes a free stainless steel logoed coffee scoop, as well as a silver metallic Anniversary Coffee Mug.  There will also be special Anniversary Promotions throughout the year, announced through social media.

Hampton Coffee Cafés Re-Open

It’s time for Hampton Coffee Company to start re-opening our neighborhood cafés!  Our Water Mill, Westhampton Beach, Southampton, Aquebogue and Montauk cafés are all re-opened.  We feel good about the decision we made to close our stores so early on.  All of our almost 70 staff members were able to stay home taking care of their families and helping to flatten the curve.  We are so happy to report that all of them stayed healthy.
